Game 162: Going Out with a Bang

Let me ask you, could last night's game have gone any better?  Sure, it could have been more dramatic; if Baltimore won their game and Boston didn't give up like a 95 lb kid on dodgeball day in 8th grade gym class, it would have been more INTERESTING but no where near as much fun.  And against the Red Sox no less!  With Pedroia and Ellsbury helplessly trying to play spoiler...damn it was fun to watch!  Listen to these numbers: the Yanks had 15 total hits.  Robbie and Grandy had 2 HR each.  Robbie went 4-4 w/ 6 RBI.  Even A-Rod had 2 hits (sad that that's a big deal I know).

So here we are on the door step of the playoffs.  We have momentum on our side.  Robbie Cano couldn't be swinging a hotter bat.  CC has relocated his ace stuff.  Pettitte is healthy and rested.  Kuroda looks ready to give us a gritty (and joyless, apparently) performance or two.  The bench is stacked with roll players and the Captain is present to oversee it all.  Tell me he doesn't want ring number 6 in the worst way...

You have to like the way this thing has shaken out.  The Yanks get home field until the World Series.  Texas is weakened after that tough Oakland series and may very well be checked out.  Baltimore is ready to fight but I feel confident the Yanks are better.  And if Oakland takes out Detroit, who I fear the most out of everyone, then the path to the World Series looks like a clear one to me.  Bring on the postseason!
